Roseann Berg
Chief Strategic Initiatives and Community Relations Officer - Bates Technical College
Dr. Roseann Berg is the Chief Strategic Initiatives and Community Relations Officer at Bates Technical College in Tacoma, Washington, where she leads initiatives to be responsive to the changing needs of the community and workforce through industry partnerships and expansion of educational opportunities in high-demand or emerging fields. With 14 years in higher education, she has a strong background in program development, workforce training, and community engagement, in alignment with the college mission of educating the community for employment and strengthening the region’s economy.
Roseann has previously served as the Instructional Dean for technology programs at Green River College and directed the MESA program at Olympic College, supporting systemically excluded students in STEM fields. Her teaching career spans eight years in both the California Community College system and Washington Colleges, where she taught Biology and developed curriculum that met diverse learner needs and has been engaged in program review and learning outcomes assessment. Additionally, she brings valuable insight as a former small business owner in Seattle and has served on the board of Unloop, a nonprofit dedicated to creating career pathways in software development for formerly incarcerated individuals. Roseann has worked to expand access to tech careers, improve diversity in the tech workforce and advocate hiring by building strong networks of community and employer partners.
A Washington native, first-generation college student and parent, she is dedicated to equitable access to higher education, developing the tech workforce, and supporting a robust state economy. Roseann is an Edmonds Community College alum and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington, a Doctorate in Chiropractic, and a PMP certification. Her unique combination of personal and professional experiences means she can provide a variety of perspectives.
