Attend CyAD 2025

The CyAD (Cybersecurity Across Disciplines) Summit is a two-day conference designed to help educators integrate cybersecurity concepts into their curricula. Hosted by the National Cybersecurity Training and Education Center (NCyTE), this event offers a collaborative space where academia and industry can exchange ideas, gain practical insights, and establish valuable partnerships. This will be the 3rd annual event and held at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, IL.

Call for Proposals – Share Your Expertise

CyAD 2025 is seeking presentations that highlight the intersection of cybersecurity with various disciplines. If you have expertise in embedding cybersecurity principles into your field, we encourage you to submit a proposal.

Submission Deadline: March 12, 2025

Presentation topics should address cybersecurity needs in the following sectors:

  • Energy and Utilities
  • Transportation, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain
  • Communication and Technology
  • Healthcare, Public Services, and Emergency Services
  • Finance and Commercial Industries
  • Food and Agriculture

NCyTE welcomes proposals from faculty and industry professionals, particularly those that foster interdisciplinary collaboration. Joint proposals between faculty members of different disciplines or between academia and industry are strongly encouraged. (Note: Sales presentations are not permitted.)

Why Attend?

At CyAD, you'll explore real-world case studies, gain access to curriculum-ready materials including tools for gaining hands-on experience, and you'll learn about the latest cybersecurity trends affecting your field. Key benefits include:

Practical Resources: Acquire lesson plans, tools, and materials to integrate cybersecurity into your courses.

Industry Insights: Learn about emerging cybersecurity threats and regulations relevant to your discipline.

Networking Opportunities: Connect with educators and industry professionals who share your interests.

Hands-on Learning: Participate in interactive demonstrations showcasing cutting-edge cybersecurity tools.

At last year's summit, one participant said:

“The conference sparked a number of ideas for me to explore; however, we need more connection and insight from other disciplines. The biggest take-away was reinforcing the power of learning communities, a space where people across disciplines can come together to guide and to grow, to shape and support, engage and energize.”

Who Should Attend?

Presenters: If you can share how cybersecurity intersects with your discipline, submit a proposal.

Educators: Faculty from any discipline looking to integrate cybersecurity into their programs.

Past Sessions Have Included:

  • Cybersecurity in self-driving vehicles
  • Protecting healthcare data from cyber threats
  • Securing industrial control systems (SCADA)
  • Impact of generative AI on higher education
  • Cyber risks in automotive, maritime, and aviation industries

How have colleges benefited from the CyAD Summit? The majority of participants surveyed report learning things that they plan to incorporate into the curriculum or teaching pedagogy at their home institutions.  For example, last year, the Assistant Dean of Technology at Sinclair Community College in Dayton Ohio, Kyle Jones, came away from the summit with a sense of urgency to infuse more training about information security into their Operational Technology programs. They've since launched a new baccalaureate program focused on the Internet of Things (IoT).
